Center Action Fund Endorses Alexandra Hunt for Pennsylvania’s 3rd Congressional District
PHILADELPHIA— The Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund, the 501(c)(4) political arm of the Center for Biological Diversity, announced today that it is endorsing Alexandra Hunt in the Democratic primary in Pennsylvania’s 3rd Congressional District.
“The climate crisis is getting more dire every day, so we need new leaders in Congress like Alexandra Hunt to champion the Green New Deal and fight the corruption in both parties that has only benefitted powerful special interests,” said Brett Hartl, chief political strategist at the Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund. “We need leaders who will ensure that future generations inherit a livable planet that hasn’t been devastated by climate change. Alexandra is the voice that Pennsylvania needs right now.”
Alexandra Hunt has signed the Green New Deal pledge, which includes supporting the Keep It In The Ground Act, the Environmental Justice for All Act and End Polluter Welfare Act, among other bills. She has promised not to accept campaign donations from fossil fuel PACs, executives, lobbyists or any entity supporting or representing the fossil fuel industry.
“Public health is the protection of our ecosystems and communities as well as advocacy for a clean, sustainable environment,” Hunt said. “I’m proud to be building a coalition of environmental justice fighters who understand that advocating for wildlife, wild places, humans, and our planet are all essential and urgent. Thank you to the Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund for supporting our fight.”
Incumbent representative Dwight Evans’ voting record on key environmental issues was one of the weakest among Democrats in the last Congress. The Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund scored him at 67% in the 116th Congress, and he has failed to support key legislation, including the Green New Deal Resolution.
The Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund is a national nonprofit organization that advocates for legislation and legislators that will advance a progressive environmental agenda. The Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund is the 501(c)(4) affiliate of the Center for Biological Diversity, but these organizations’ names are not interchangeable. This news release is from the Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund, not the Center for Biological Diversity.
