Center Action Fund Endorses Summer Lee for Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District
SWISSVALE, Pa.— The Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund, the 501(c)(4) political arm of the Center for Biological Diversity, announced today that it is endorsing Summer Lee in the Democratic primary in Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District.
“Summer Lee has worked tirelessly to fight the environmental injustices that have devastated the communities of western Pennsylvania for too long, and she isn’t afraid to stand up to corporate polluters like Big Oil and Gas,” said Stephanie Kurose, northeast political director at the Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund. “Lee is exactly the type of environmental champion we need in Congress, and we’re very proud and excited to endorse her.”
“I am proud to have the support of Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund in this race as we work together to take on the corporate power that has poisoned our water and air and threatened the future of our planet,” said Lee. “We cannot accept the status quo of Congressional inaction funded by fossil fuel corporations, it’s time we have new leaders in Congress who will always stand up for environmental justice — I am ready to be that leader in Pennsylvania’s 12th Congressional District.”
Summer Lee was one of the first candidates for Congress to sign the Green New Deal pledge. Signers of the pledge commit to rejecting any large donations from fossil fuel PACs, executives, or lobbyists, and commit to cosponsoring 10 pieces of Green New Deal-related legislation within six months of taking office.
The Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund is a national nonprofit organization that advocates for legislation and legislators that will advance a progressive environmental agenda.
