Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund Endorses California Climate Leaders

OAKLAND, Calif.— The Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund, the 501(c)(4) political arm of the Center for Biological Diversity, today announced its endorsements of climate champions for the November general election in California. These candidates are committed to fighting Big Oil and acting on the climate emergency and extinction crisis.

“Even as all eyes are on the top of the ticket in November, critical races up and down the ballot in California could determine future progressive environmental policy for our state and our country,” said Karuna Jaggar, California political director at the Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund. “We have the opportunity to elect progressive climate champions at every level of government who are willing to stand up to the oil and gas industry, fight for clean air and water, protect endangered species and work to ensure a livable climate.”

Early voting started Tuesday in California, where people and wildlife are facing the harms of urban drilling and toxic refining, as well as climate disasters like wildfires and flooding.

“In March Californians defeated the worst oil-backed candidates in the primary election, showing clearly that the Golden State demands leaders who’ll stand up to fossil fuel polluters,” said Jaggar. “We’re enthusiastically supporting these wildlife and climate champions, who’ll build on recent legislative wins in California and end the fossil fuel era as science and justice requires.”

The Center Action Fund is a national nonprofit organization that advocates for legislation and legislators that will advance a progressive environmental agenda. The Center Action Fund is the 501(c)(4) affiliate of the Center for Biological Diversity, but these organizations’ names are not interchangeable.
