“California needs climate champions at every level of government who will boldly lead us out of the climate emergency and push the political establishment to act with urgency,” said Karuna Jaggar, California political director at the Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund. “Despite its green reputation, California produces some of the dirtiest, most climate-damaging oil in the world and is one of the nation’s largest oil producing states. That has to change.”
“Fossil fuels are fanning the flames of a climate catastrophe while giving California extreme fire seasons and its worst drought in history,” said Jaggar. “There’s no time to lose. California’s elected officials must lead the country and the world in accelerating a full, rapid and just phase-out of fossil fuels.”
