Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund Endorses Jessica Cisneros for Texas’ 28th Congressional District
TUCSON, Ariz. — The Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund, the 501(c)(4) political arm of the Center for Biological Diversity, today announced that it is endorsing Jessica Cisneros in the Democratic primary in for Texas’ 28th Congressional District.
“Jessica Cisneros is exactly the champion Texas and the nation needs to confront the climate crisis and the rampant environmental injustice occurring in south Texas,” said Brett Hartl, chief political strategist at the Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund. “Rep. Cuellar has become completely captured by polluters and special interests. Jessica Cisneros offers hope to all of those voices that corporate Democrats have turned their backs on.”
Cisneros is a 26-year-old immigration and human rights attorney born and raised in the border town of Laredo. She attended the University of Texas at Austin and received her law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. Her campaign has been featured in The New York Times, Laredo Morning Times, Vox, CNN, Huffington Post, VICE/HBO, Vogue, MTV, and more. Cisneros’ campaign has been endorsed by EMILY’s List, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley, Communications Workers of America District 6, National Nurses United, La Joya American Federation of Teachers, Progressive Change Campaign Committee, 350 Action, Daily Kos, WUFPAC, Justice Democrats, the Working Families Party, and Sunrise Movement.
Jessica Cisneros provided the following quote: “We deserve a member of Congress who will fight for us, not fossil fuel CEOs,” said Jessica Cisneros. “I’m running to bring a Green New Deal to South Texas and that’s why I’m proud to have the endorsement of Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund.”
